Don’t wait until New Years to start working towards those New Years goals.

Stop hunching. Pull your shoulders back and stick your chest out.

My self talk is in a really demanding place right now…in case you couldn’t tell.

Posture is one of those things that falls to the wayside on people’s New Years resolution list.

There are so many more important items or big ideas that we want to incorporate in our new improved self next year. And correcting our posture just isn’t one of them.

You know exactly what I’m talking about.

Whether you want to save, invest, or spend more money; or you want to get yourself into a bilingual situation studying Spanish or French. Maybe learn how to bake or just cook healthier foods.

Our New Years Resolutions (why am I capitalizing that?) run the gamut.

I am a firm believer in getting a head start on whatever goals and targets you have for the new year. I think that Thanksgiving is the time of year to start reflecting on your previous year, and consider what you want to achieve for yourself next year.

By the time January 1 rolls around you’ve already been picking up more fruit and veggies from the grocery store and walking more frequently (exercise has to start somewhere).

My posture can get pretty bad when I am not consciously thinking about it.

Guess what I did with my shoulders and chest when I wrote the first line?

Guess how scrunched my shoulders feel now?

My posture isn’t horrible, but it could use some work. It’s not where I want it to be, so I’m going to take steps to change it and improve it.

Improving my posture seems very minor but the accomplishment of this goal can have wide reaching affects.

Why would I wait until January 1 to try and get my posture improved? There are things I can do now, to help. Not only will the smaller improvements lead to larger improvements. But it reduces the gap that I need to clear in order to hit my goal.

It’s a win-win.
